Jessie Ware - I Could Get Used To This

Jessie Ware I Could Get Used To This artwork single cover meaning explanation lyrics

Even in January, Jessie Ware brings plenty of summer fun on her first new single since 2024.

Jessie Ware amassed a great deal of critical acclaim with her two most recent studio albums, 2020’s What’s Your Pleasure? and 2023’s That! Feels Good!, which both saw the London-born singer-songwriter take on a lush, playfully sensual dance-pop and disco sound in her music. Her comeback single, “I Could Get Used To This”, released January 23rd via EMI, continues that pattern, and is a very promising sign for what is to come.

The first thing that immediately stands out about “I Could Get Used To This” is that its sound is stunning as it’s ever been for Ware’s music. The production team behind this song - Barney Lister (worked with Rina Sawayama, Fred again.., Olivia Dean and more) and Jon Shade (Charli xcx, Zara Larsson and more) - absolutely knock it out of the park, giving the track a luscious, vibrant sound that makes it sound like something straight off a beautiful tropical island. The instruments are mixed together in an effortless, breezy way, which only adds to the light, positive energy of the song. The rhythm of the track is upbeat and groovy, making it something you can’t help but move to.

Thematically, love and pleasure remain the centerpiece of “I Could Get Used To This”, just as they have been for Jessie Ware in recent years. The writing is very charming and fun, and Ware’s strong, compelling charisma as a performer truly brings the track to life, with her delivering a typically powerful and engaging vocal performance. The melodies are flowing and catchy, giving the song plenty of replay value; the key change on the bridge is particularly well-executed, adding some extra variety for the latter third of the track.

Overall, “I Could Get Used To This” makes for a brilliant comeback from Jessie Ware, picking back up right where she left off in her That! Feels Good! album cycle. The single feels like a combination of all the best traits of her nu-disco sound, and a great step in its continued development. It’s a great choice for a lead single, and one of the strongest tracks of the beginning of the year.
