Nyah Grace - Divinely Devoted

“All I ever do is for you, but you just keep bringing me down”.

Divinely Devoted, the sophomore LP by Manchester-based, Oregon-born singer-songwriter Nyah Grace, sees her build upon her R&B and neo-soul styles, presenting a more mature and refined artistic vision. It’s one of the more surprising projects of the first six months of 2025, maintaining a very solid quality throughout its ten-track length.

The principal strong suits of this album are the soundscape and the production which allows it to shine to the fullest. In contrast to her debut, Honey-Coloured, which opted for a lighter, more contemporary R&B focused sound, Divinely Devoted, opts instead for a more measured, almost luxurious feel, which gives it a somewhat spiritual air on a lot of the tracks, particularly the single “Down”, which is a highlight of the project. The addition of choral vocals, on that track and several others, make them feel a great deal more soulful. Every instrumental tone is refined to perfection, making the record an incredibly lush, pleasant listen; however, the production is kept fairly low-key, to place more of a focus on Nyah Grace herself.

The writing on the record isn’t overly complex, but it does its job in complimenting the enthralling atmosphere of the hypnotic, airy mixes and flowing instrumentals; highlights in the lyrical department include the aforementioned “Down”, as well as the final two tracks, “Seventeen” and “I Can’t Love You The Same”.

Another huge reason this album is as good as it is are the vocal performances that Nyah Grace delivers. Her vocals are silky-smooth, even more so than on her first album; the harmonies are beautiful, providing necessary extra layering and making the vocals stand out even more [“Obvious” is a great example of this]. Her deliveries are gentle and subtly confident, not breaking the delicate, but self-assured charm of the record.

Overall, Divinely Devoted feels like a project made with a great deal of love and care, and reflects a great deal of artistic growth. It is well-conceptualized, and executed near-flawlessly. If Nyah Grace aims to establish herself as one of the big names in the world of neo-soul and R&B, she is certainly on the right path.
